These New Old Stock tiles have a fine durable finish known as Ever-glazed or crystalline. Frederick Hurten Rhead, the famous potter, worked at Mosaic Tile Company from 1922 to 1923. Many types of plain and ornamental tiles were made until 1959. The company closed in 1967. A word about matching the color of your tile: An exact match to your tile would be rare, just getting close in color and size is an accomplishment.The big tile companies of last century made new colors every year and discontinued others…so after 50 years in business there are thousands of colors out there…and even with the same color, every batch may be slightly different.
